Martelle Hunt named as the inaugural Peter Jacobs Memorial Award winner
At BLOC Music Theatre's Annual General Meeting on Friday, Martelle Hunt was announced as the inaugural recipient of the Peter Jacobs Memorial Award. This award recognizes outstanding contribution by a Junior member, and aims to encourage their further endeavors in the performing arts.
Since her first performance in a BLOC show in 2006 Martelle has gone on to appear on stage in four more shows, as well as making significant contributions to four other shows in various capacities such as Costume Design, Wardrobe, Props and Makeup. Her participation is continuing as Designer for BLOC's upcoming production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Martelle is an excellent example of someone responding to the opportunities provided by BLOC Music Theatre's junior productions, and we wish her every success in her future theatrical endeavors.
The award is a memorial to Peter Jacobs, a tireless servant of BLOC who served in more capacities than can be listed. His particular passion was nurturing and supporting junior members and junior productions. Peter sadly passed away earlier this year.
