BLOC calls for gumboots for show
Published in The Courier, Friday April 23rd 2010 By Emma Brown SINGING in the rain is much more fun in gumboots. And the cast of Singin' in the Rain, the latest production from BLOC Music Theatre needs 47 pairs of gumboots. BLOC associate choreographer Carly Scott said the company had come up with the concept of a gumboot competition to get people talking about the chance of rain. |

| The idea is for people to donate gumboots. Inside the boots entrants can put their name and details on a piece of paper for their chance to win a double pass to the show. "We want a range of adult sizes - we have a lot of men in the cast - all in black and soft rubber with no steel caps,'' she said. The gumboots will also be used to decorate a gala soiree night on May 22 to thank the show's sponsors. The competition closes on May 12. "Singin' in the Rain is a really big dance show and the possibility of rain makes it very exciting,'' Ms Scott said. This production has the three leads coming from Melbourne as is choreographer Alister Smith. It is also a landmark for director Peter Tulloch, this being his 99th production. | |
